OK – so it had to happen – a bad day. . .

We woke up to drizzle and set off for L’Isle sur la Sorge, expecting to spend a happy morning at the famous antiques market there. We happily programmed our destination into the GPS and set off - Kirsten’s cheerful voice gave no indication of the drama that was about to unfold. . .

Aaaah – Venasque!

Posted in Talking about . . .

We had an early introduction to the vagaries of cellphone and internet networks in the area because Stephanie (the lovely woman who takes care of the villa we rented) didn’t get my txt saying when we would be arriving. So we arrived in Venasque at 2pm and only got into our villa at 4pm. Nevertheless, all was well and we are delighted with our accommodation. It is rustic and quaint but certainly comfortable enough.

Oxford and entering the Cotswolds

Paddington station was full of people coming and going. I wondered where they were going and what they’d come from and how they were all feeling. So many stories to hear and so little time. . .

One can sit around all day waiting for the rain to stop long enough to go out – or one can just go out there and get on yer bike!

So, on our last day in London, we just went out there and got on our bikes. . .

The Windsor Castle, the Greek, and the Draycott – will we ever stop eating?

Posted in Talking about . . .

Had a good morning catch-up yesterday - writing and photographs and following up on plans. I gather there’s no WiFi in the house in Stow, but the owner said we can get it at The New England Coffee House - just around the corner from the Old School House. But I found out that there is WiFi in the villa in Venasque – yay!

Slept poorly. Woke to a cool, drizzly London. Was forced to do Pilates again.

The long ride and the gentleman’s club

Posted in Talking about . . .

Monday morning dawned bright and shiny so Kate and I set off for the full-catastrophe bike ride in Hyde Park. Glorious sunshine and London sparkling!
